Oreyv 3 – Parshas MishpatimTu BeAv – Metzach HaRatzonBinyan Beis HaMikdashNaaseh veNishma – Keeping Body and Soul Together – Living to Eat vs. Eating to Live – Downsizing – Speaker: Rabbi Nasan Maimon.
Hilkhos Oreyv 3 is based on 2Likutey Moharan 4.

00:00 – PARAGRAPH 39. Tu BeAv – Metzach HaRatzon – Binyan Beis HaMikdash.
13:00 – PARAGRAPH 40. Parshas Mishpatim. Naaseh venishma. וַיִּקַּח֙ סֵ֣פֶר הַבְּרִ֔ית וַיִּקְרָ֖א בְּאָזְנֵ֣י הָעָ֑ם וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ כֹּ֛ל אֲשֶׁר־דִּבֶּ֥ר יְהֹוָ֖ה נַֽעֲשֶׂ֥ה וְנִשְׁמָֽע – “And he took the Book of the Covenant and read it within the hearing of the people, and they said, ‘All that the Lord spoke we will do and we will hear'” (Shemos 24:7, Mishpatim).
17:00 – שמע – to listen means that to make a heart connection – it means the ratzon is activated.
18:00 – Naaseh venishma is simcha – keser – determination to do the will of HaShem. Reference to Likutey Moharan 22.
19:15 – Q&R – naaseh venishma means ratzon.
20:00 – Q&R – The Torah sometimes attributes human feelings to HaShem to serve as a bridge for people to be able to relate to HaShem. HaShem uses these terms for our benefit, even though emotions don’t apply to the spiritual realms.
23:00 – PARAGRAPH 41. Why “Vayehi Noam” is said on Motzei Shabbos: Shabbos is ratzon and light, while weekdays are the domain of the Sutra Achra. The fire of Havdallah marks our entrance into the “work week” and attaches the coming days to the light, holiness, and ratzon of Shabbos. Noam HaShem is another term for HaShem’s ratzon.
28:00 – Maleva Malka.
29:00 – Q&R about chokhma – the term noam is begematria 160 – with kolel 161 – HaShem’s Name of Chesed.
30:40 – PARAGRAPH 42. The feet correspond to anger – Esav’s connection is to Olam HaAsiya.
38:00 – PARAGRAPH 43. Keeping body and soul together. All a person’s physical needs are called arvus – security. הָ֣יוּ בָ֔ךְ לַֽעֲרֹ֖ב מַֽעֲרָבֵֽךְ – “…to guarantee your necessities” (Yechiezkel 27:9). Taking care of physical needs through food and clothing enables the nefesh and neshama to stay together. The nefesh is locked into a body which requires physical nourishment.
43:00 – ***NOTE – On Erev Shabbos we say Hoduneshamos trapped in food and drink receive a tikkun when a Jew eats and drinks. This is the concept of elevating the “holy sparks” in food.
46:00 – ***How the nefesh perceives the physical world.
47:30 – NOTE about Yisro.
49:00 – The Arizal on the order of the Arba Bonim in the Haggadah.
50:00 – When a person is very sick, spiritually, he needs the most powerful “medicine” – the highest level Torah.
52:00 – We eat and drink in order to do HaShem’s will, as in: בְּכָל־דְּרָכֶ֥יךָ דָעֵ֑הוּ וְ֜ה֗וּא יְיַשֵּׁ֥ר אֹֽרְחֹתֶֽיךָ – “Know Him in all your ways, and He will direct your paths” (Mishlei 3:6). Living to eat vs. eating to live.
54:20 – *Brikhas HaMazon with kavana insures a person’s parnassah.
58:30 – Q&R about limiting food intake. There are 3 kinds of tefilos: 1) possul tefilah – asking for physical needs with no spiritual intent, 2) praise of HaShem with no expression of need, and 3) asking for one’s needs with the expressed intention of using what we receive to fulfill HaShem’s Torah.
64:30 – BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE about Rabbi Michel Dorfman zal’s home being only 40 square meters yet there was a feeling of tremendous wealth because everything was neat, organized, and always welcoming to guests. BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE about Rabbi Zvi Aryeh Rosenfeld zal and his wife raising four children in a two-room apartment. “There was not one extra paper and only the most essential seforim. As soon as he learned a new sefer, he could give it away because now it was in his head.”
67:00 – NOTE about downsizing one’s home can be a plus at a certain stage of life. Closing blessings.
