20th Elul – Yahrzeit of Rav Avrohom b”R’ Naftali Hertz Sternhartz (Kokhav-Lev) zal – (1862-1955) Speaker: Rabbi Nasan Maimon. (Recorded 2015-09-03.)
Lineage of Rav Avrohom Sternhartz:
Paternal: One of Rav Nosson [of Nemirov]’s sons was Reb Shachneh zal. Reb Shachneh’s son was Reb Naftali Hertz zal. Reb Naftali Hertz’s son was Rav Avrohom Sternhartz.
Maternal: Rav Aharon [of Breslov] Goldstein zal had a son, Zvi Aryeh Goldstein zal. Zvi Aryeh’s son was Reb Nachman [of Tcherin] Goldstein zal. Reb Nachman’s daughter, Devorah a”h married Reb Naftali Hertz. Their son was Rav Avrohom Sternhartz Sternhartz.
Rav Avrohom Sternhartz was married to Yuta Basya a”h, a granddaughter of Rav Nosson of Nemirov [daughter of Reb Yosef Yonah and Esther Sheindel].
08:45 – Rabbi Zvi Aryeh Rosenfeld zal and his father, Rabbi Yisrael Abba Rosenfeld zal, corresponded with Rav Avrohom and raised funds for the Breslov community in Eretz Yisrael.
16:07 – Rav Avroham Sternhartz was invited to become the Rav of Lublin, but his grandfather, Rav Nachman of Tcherin zal, encouraged him instead to lead the Breslov community.
19:16 – Rav Avrohom Sternhartz was taken prisoner by the Arabs in 1948.
27:45 – Translation of a letter written by Rav Avrohom asking friends to help him emigrate from Russia to Eretz Yisrael.
