LM2 – Torah 024 – Joy, Health, and the Ten Types of Song

Text: Likutey Moharan 2, Torah 24, Mitzvah Gedolah: “It’s a great mitzvah to be joyful always”.
00:00 – “…at the works of Your hands I will sing joyous song” (Tehillim/Psalms 92:5). What is the work of Hashem’s hands? The creation of man.
02:24 – The ten types of song enliven the ten pulses. “Then [in the future] Moshe will sing.” For more about “Az Yashir Moshe” (Shemos/Exodus 15:1) see Likutey Halakhos, Choshen Mishpat 2, Hilkhos Perika uTeEnah 4, Paragraph 18.
3:26 – Simcha (joy) is not a mood, it’s a decision – a spiritual accomplishment.
04:26 – All the souls of Israel are like cells in one body. The cause and effect between lack of joy and illness does not necessarily apply to an individual, but to the entire People of Israel. That’s why if a person falls ill, it can be the result of another person’s misdeeds or lack of faith.
06:00 – One type of song is bracha (blessing).
08:04 – We are the instruments upon which the ten types of song are played.
09:22 – Joy is a powerful remedy. “Dance” and “illness” share the same root word in Hebrew. Why?
