Speaker: Sara Wurtzel. Recorded 8. Elul 5755 (1995-09-03) OU Israel Center, Jerusalem.
00:00 – Group reading of the entire Psalm in Hebrew.
01:30 – Introduction. Sefer Tehillim (The Book of Psalms) was written by ten different tzaddikim. This perek (chapter) was composed by Dovid HaMelech (King David) to honor bringing the Aron Kodesh (Holy Ark) to Jerusalem.
03:42 – Psalm 8 is the Shir Shel Yom (Song of the Day) for Simchas Torah (Vilna Gaon).
00:00 – POSSUK (VERSE) 1. LaMenatzeyach – to the Conductor. “Gitis” has several meanings: the location of the Aron Kodesh, a type of musical instrument, and the process of pressing wine (Yishayahu 3:63).
9:43 – P. 2. The greatness of Hashem’s Name.
16:06 – “Calling” the Torah’s life-force. Based on Likutey Moharan I, Torah 56.
22:55 – “From the mouths of infants…”
27:31 – Reb Michel Dorfman z”l asks, “What is a dream?”
28:10 – Unborn children at Krias Yam Suf (splitting of the Red Sea). The humility of saying Tehillim.
32:35 – Likutey Moharan II (Tinyana) Torah 73. “These are the names of the Children of Israel…” closing letters of the first words spell “Tehillim.” Hashem sends the antidote before He sends the illness.
33:24 – P. 4.
40:36 – “Ma Enosh” – “What is man…” refers to Avraham Avinu and Sarah Imeynu.
41:30 – P. 6
43:51 – Based on Nedarim 38.
44:35 – P. 7 – 10.
