The blood of Zechariah HaNavi boiled up from the earth to be avenged. When the Roman general responsible for the murder of millions of Jews realized the horror of his actions, he abandoned his past and converted to Judaism. The fact that his repentance was accepted is a powerful reminder that we should never give up hope. HaShem wants us to return to Him, no matter what we did in the past.
