LH1 - Orach Chaim 1LH1-03-Tzitzis

OC1 – Lesson 034 – Tzitzis 2 – Para. 1-5

This halakha is based on Likutey Moharan 2, Torah 12.

oo:oo – “Ayeh makom cvodo” – “Where is the place of His glory?” Because Hashem is hidden there’s room in our heart for doubt. The korbon oleh (elevated offering) repairs errors made within the heart/imagination.

03:02 – Minhag (custom) of saying the Shirei HaMaalos (Tehillim/Psalms 120-134) on Shabbos afternoon in winter.

11:10 – Some Torah is revealed for all the world to hear, while some is nistar (hidden) and accessible through personal invitation by a teacher only. The word “halakha” is composed of the roshei teyvos of the phrase הריעו לאלקים כל-חארץ – “Praise Hashem, the entire world.” (Tehillim/Psalms 66:1)

12:50 – השתחוו לה’ בהדרת קדש, ר”ת קבלה The word “kabbala” is composed of the roshei teyvos of the phrase “Bow down to Hashem in His holy domain.” (Tehillim/Psalms 29:2)

17:00 – Bereishis (“In the beginning…“) alludes to the hidden aspects of creation that we need to seek out. The word sofeyk (doubt) is composed of the letters of the name “Amalek” – the antithesis of Hashem.

19:00 – When Avraham Aveinu was on his way to Akeidas Yitzchak (the binding of his son Isaac) the yetzer hara (evil inclination) tried to make him doubt.

24:12 – PARAGRAPH 2. (Lesson 034b). Why clothing needs to be protected.*

28:54 – The wool of sheep originates from a very high spiritual place, as in “The hair of His head was like pure, white wool.” (Daniel 7:9)

30:00 – “Ayeh” represents Keser (the “crown” of Hashem) – all that is beyond understanding so we don’t investigate into it.

33:00 – Tzitzis are made of wool and repair/protect from doubts in our heart.

*39:00 – Tzitzis on the four corners of a garment speak to the question ayeh: where is Hashem? Hashem is everywhere — even if we’d search to “the four corners of the earth”.

40:32 – (Lesson 034c) Why is it permitted to wear tzitzis in the bathroom?

*45:00 – What’s holy about Purim?

52:03 – PARAGRAPH 4. (Lesson 034d). Linen as a lowly fabric. Shatnez – prohibition of combining wool and linen.

1:06:00 – Yom Kippur. Hashem’s forgiveness is found in ayeh – the place where He is most hidden.
