Speaker: Rabbi Nasan Maimon. This halakha is based on Likutey Moharan 66. Topics: Tikkun HaBris, Emes l’Amito – Real Truth, mikveh, Uman Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur Katan.
*00:00 – PARAGRAPH 17. CLIP for BeChukosai. הִתְוַדּ֤וּ אֶת־עֲו‍ֹנָם֙ וְאֶת־עֲוֹ֣ן אֲבֹתָ֔ם בְּמַֽעֲלָ֖ם אֲשֶׁ֣ר מָֽעֲלוּ־בִ֑י וְאַ֕ף אֲשֶׁר־הָֽלְכ֥וּ עִמִּ֖י בְּקֶֽרִי – “They will then confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their fathers their betrayal that they dealt Me, and that they also treated Me carelessly” (Vayikra 26:40 – BeChukosai). The tzaddikim of previous generations help the present generation of Am Yisrael in Tikkun HaBris – repairing sins with regard to Torah laws of marriage.
49 – NOTE: “Today is Erev Rosh Chodesh Tammuz.” Description of preparations for Uman Rosh Hashanah already beginning, including Tikkun HaKlali and Tefilah 76 in Likutey Tefilos.
24 – Moshe Rabbeinu mentioned the merit of the Avos – Patriarchs – to increase the power of his prayer on behalf of Klal Yisrael. The principle of calling on the merits of a tzaddik.
38 – PARAGRAPH 18. The waters of mikveh only purify if they are connected with the ground, not contained in any sort of vessel. וְר֣וּחַ אֱלֹהִ֔ים מְרַחֶ֖פֶת עַל־פְּנֵ֥י הַמָּֽיִם – “…and the spirit of Elokim was hovering over the face of the water” (Bereishis 1:2).
41 – It takes great yearning and tefilos to overcome obstacles that block a person’s spiritual progress.
18 – With regard to spiritual progress, nothing can stand in the way of the will.
31 – מניעות – obstacles – has the same letters as נעימות – sweetness, pleasantness.
52 – The “Nine Palaces” described in Likutey Moharan 24.
49 – Nimtza – all spiritual goals can only be achieved by being in the physical world, part of the earth, struggling to overcome obstacles.
55 – אֱמֶת מֵאֶ֣רֶץ תִּצְמָ֑ח וְ֜צֶ֗דֶק מִשָּׁמַ֥יִם נִשְׁקָֽף – “Truth will sprout from the earth” (Tehillim/Psalms 85:12). The Baal Shem Tov HaKodesh explains that in order to reach the truth, a person has to lower themselves through humility.
00 – The word eretz alludes to ratzon – will. By means of the obstacles encountered in physical world a person acquires higher levels of ratzon.
04 – Q&R about how to apply these principles in everyday life when a person feels exhausted. Account of how Rav Noson of Nemirov described his behavior during a life-threatening moment. A fish bone was lodged in his throat and yet, “Even when I wasn’t able to speak, I made whatever sound I could and looked upward.”
30 – Q&R – When a person feels as if obstacles are weakening their spiritual yearning, it helps to pray for new yearning.
38 – Closing blessings. NOTE about Yom Kippur Katan.
