Sheluchin 5 – Roshei Perokim – Parshas Haazinu – Parshas Beshalach – Asniel Ben Kanaz – Searching for the Tzaddik – Beirur HaMedameh – Ruach HaKodesh – Sefiras HaOmer – Horse and Rider – Speaker: Rabbi Nasan Maimon.
Hilkhos Sheluchin 5 is based on 2Likutey Moharan 8.
00:00 – ROSHEI PEROKIM. Asniel Ben Kanaz. When a Tzaddik passes away, the search for his successor and his trustworthy students must begin immediately. Pilpul is related to simcha. Rather than fall into despair that Moshe Rabbeinu was no longer in this world, Asniel Ben Kanaz courageously applied himself to delving into the Torah with joy and thereby merited restoring the halakhos that had been forgotten by the rest of his generation. הַצַּדִּיק אָבָד וְאֵין אִישׁ שָׂם עַל־לֵב וְאַנְשֵׁי־חֶסֶד נֶאֱסָפִים בְּאֵין מֵבִין כִּי־מִפְּנֵי הָרָעָה נֶאֱסַף הַצַּדִּיק – “The righteous man has perished, but no one takes it to heart, and men of kindness are taken away, with no one understanding that it’s because of the evil the righteous man has been taken away” (Yeshaya 57:1).
04:47 – Am Yisrael’s lack of searching for the Tzaddik causes the Tzaddik to pass away. “I was forgotten” נִשְׁכַּחְתִּי כְּמֵת מִלֵּב הָיִיתִי כִּכְלִי אֹבֵד – “I was forgotten like a dead person, out of mind…” (Tehillim 31:13). When a Tzaddik leaves this world, he loses nothing. It is Am Yisrael who suffers the loss.
07:40 – Tzaddikim live forever. Moshe Rabbeinu tells Am Yisrael that when he passes away, if they don’t search for his teachings, they will make mistakes.
07:46 – NOTE – The passing of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai zal.
09:00 – Parshas Haazinu.
12:45 – The Tzaddik searches for Ruach HaKodesh within himself.
13:14 – “That which was, will be.”
13:46 – Eulogizing the Tzaddik. ***After the Tzaddik’s passing, a person needs to seek out the students of the Tzaddik.
15:10 – NOTE – it’s through the teachings of Rebbe Nachman’s students, such as Rav Nasan of Nemirov’s Likutey Halakhos, that a person can truly access the Tzaddik.
16:08 – ***Every person, in every generation, must search for the Tzaddik, in order to achieve true emunah.
20:05 – The dangers of travel. NOTE – warning about traveling on buses in Eretz Yisrael – the drivers are sometimes reckless. The joy of the heart lifts the feet – Tikkun HaMedameh. The feet represent the lowest level of the sekhel. NOTE on a car having “horsepower”.
21:40 – Parshas Beshalach. Pharaoh – The horse precedes the rider in the realm of evil, as in כִּי בָא סוּס פַּרְעֹה בְּרִכְבּוֹ וּבְפָרָשָׁיו בַּיָּם – “When Pharaoh’s horses came with his chariots and his horsemen into the sea…” (Shemos 15:19, Beshalach). HaShem caused the downfall of Mitzrayim through סוּס וְרֹכְבוֹ רָמָה בַיָּם – “…horse and rider He has thrown into the sea” (Shemos 15:1, Beshalach).
28:16 – HaShem doesn’t want the strength of the horse – physical power. HaShem wants prayer.
29:00 – *When you don’t know what to do, search for the true shepherds of Yisrael.
30:00 – Beirur HaMedameh. Reference to Likutey Moharan 25.
32:30 – Receiving the Torah on Shavuos. Accessing the Ruach HaKodesh of the Tzaddik Emes is vital to every Jew at every level.
36:05 – ***Sefiras HaOmer – Counting the Omer – is an aspect of searching for the Tzaddik. The “Face of the Shekhina” is the Tzaddik Emes.
37:06 – ***Every Jew, from great to small, must search for the Tzaddik and even the Tzaddik has to search for his own power. Example: Had Noach known how much power he had, he could have saved the world. Avraham Avinu thought that he had limits. Moshe Rabbeinu, however, went beyond all previous levels of tefilah, until HaShem had to stop him.
41:19 – Moshe Rabbeinu at the sneh – the burning thorn bush. Why HaShem inflicted leprosy on him.
42:33 – Q&R – A person can begin the search for the Tzaddik whenever and wherever he wants to.
46:00 – Q&R about the order of horse and rider and Tikkun HaMedameh.
49:00 – Q&R about why Moshe Rabbeinu’s kever is hidden.
50:00 – NOTE about the approaching fast days and closing blessings.
