Pikadon 4 – Parshas VaEschanan – Seasons Course – Kavanas of Sefiras HaOmer – The Ability to Wait – Speaker: Rabbi Nasan Maimon.
Hilkhos Pikadon 4 is based on Likutey Moharan 1.
00:00 – PARAGRAPH 7B. On the first night of Sefiras HaOmer, we receive all the midos at once, but they are not in order. Then, throughout the following days, we receive the light of the midos in order.
04:00 – PARAGRAPH 8.
11:30 – Parshas VaEschanan. וְיָדַעְתָּ הַיּוֹם וַהֲשֵׁבֹתָ אֶל־לְבָבֶךָ כִּי יְהוָה הוּא הָאֱלֹהִים בַּשָּׁמַיִם מִמַּעַל וְעַל־הָאָרֶץ מִתָּחַת אֵין עוֹד – “And you shall know this day and consider it in your heart, that HaShem is Master in heaven above, and upon the earth below; there is none else” (Devarim 4:39, VaEschanan). Through every mitzvah we do, we receive a new awareness of HaShem.
18:00 – The importance of finding the good in every day.
24:00 – Through Sefiras HaOmer, every day a person receives challenges related to the midos of the day that facilitate his personal acquisition of daas.
29:00 – ***HaShem gave Am Yisrael a large number and variety of mitzvos to give us a chance to do a mitzvah, no matter what our situation. Also, the Torah has many aspects, so at any given time, a person can choose to study at the level most accessible at any given time. We no longer have the past and the future can only be imagined – all we have is today – now.
30:30 – PARAGRAPH 9. Shavuos. Ikar Kabalah HaTorah. Reference to Likutey Moharan 6.
38:00 – “Do not study that which is beyond you” (Chagiga 13). Keser alludes to the ability to wait. Reference to Likutey Moharan 72.
40:00 – PARAGRAPH 10. ***Every day and every hour of a person’s life is an opportunity. Through performing the mitzvah of Sefiras HaOmer we are strengthened to make every moment count, to prepare for holiness, and to develop the ability to wait. Reference to Sichos HaRan 27.
46:00 – ***It is very important to develop the ability to wait. [Ed. Note: When we ask HaShem for aitza tova, one aspect of what we’re asking for is to know when to take action and when to wait.]
50:00 – ***The Yetzer Hara disguises himself in mitzvos – e.g. dressing in “humility” that is actually a lack of self confidence that destroys the person’s ability to do take action.
