Wine, song, dreams, prophecy, and the mystical aspects of clothing in the teachings of Rebbe Nachman of Breslov. Speaker: Rabbi Nasan Maimon.
This halakha is based on Likutey Moharan 2, Torah 8.
00:00 – PARAGRAPH 10. Based on Pirkey D’Reb Eliezer 24: the kabbalistic meaning of clothing is hidden in the story of the garments made by Hashem for Adam and Chava (Eve) in Gan Eden.
20:52 – How did the nachash (serpent) deceive Chava? Yaakov Avinu wore the garment of Adam when he received the blessing from Yitzchak Avinu.
28:22 – PARAGRAPH 11. Noach (Noah) and his sons, Shem, Cham (Ham) and Yafes (Japhet). The garment with which Shem and Yafes covered themselves was an aspect of tzitzis.
36:05 – (Lesson 046c). The flood is called Mei Noach (Waters of Noah) because Noach failed to pray for his generation. Wine had a negative effect on him because he didn’t repair the sin of Adam. Avraham Avinu (Abraham) prayed for Sdom thereby began the repair of Adam’s sin. Moshe Rabeynu (Moses) completed the process through מסירת נפש mesiras nefesh (offering his life) to protect Am Yisrael. This was an example of תפילה מבחינת דין tefilah m’bechinas din (the technique of “prayer through the side of judgment”).*
49:35 – PARAGRAPH 12. (Lesson 046d). Wine, sleep, dreams, imagination. Some dreams are delivered through angels, some through demons, and some are an aspect of nevuah (prophecy).
1:03:00 – Account of the ARI z”l sleeping and his student saw that he was speaking in his sleep. The student later asked what his teacher had dreamed and the ARI z”l answered, “Even 80 years wouldn’t be enough time to tell you all I just learned about Balak and Bilaam.”
1:07:00 – The song of joy. The purpose and proper use of wine.
