The Baal Shem Tov HaKodesh had faith that even with minimal experience in the study of Torah, one can benefit from its deepest wellsprings. He emphasized that the true purpose of learning kabbalah (hidden aspects of “Received” Torah) is to improve one’s life and character traits in a practical way. It’s a gentle form of mussar (spiritual awakening) that’s often accomplished through storytelling.
