Hilkhos Chalukas Shutafim 5 is based on 2Likutey Moharan 67. “Eyes of the Tzaddik” alludes to the the ability to see clearly one’s need for tikkun hamidos. The four yisodos (basic elements – of creation emanate from HaShem through the Tzaddik Emes.
00:00 – PARAGRAPH 12. יְקָ֣רָה הִ֭יא (מפניים) [מִפְּנִינִ֑ים] – “It [the Torah] is more precious than pearls…” (Mishlei 3:15).
07:00 – Q&R – studying Torah beEmes means learning with respect and with the intent to apply to one’s own life. NOTE: Rabbi Rosenfeld zal brought the possuk that alludes to standing a sefer up, rather than leaving it open or even lying closed on a table after studying from it.

11:00 – Parshas Shoftim. כִּ֣י יִפָּלֵא֩ מִמְּךָ֨ דָבָ֜ר לַמִּשְׁפָּ֗ט בֵּֽין־דָּ֨ם | לְדָ֜ם בֵּֽין־דִּ֣ין לְדִ֗ין וּבֵ֥ין נֶ֨גַע֙ לָנֶ֔גַע דִּבְרֵ֥י רִיבֹ֖ת בִּשְׁעָרֶ֑יךָ וְקַמְתָּ֣ וְעָלִ֔יתָ אֶל־הַ֨מָּק֔וֹם אֲשֶׁ֥ר יִבְחַ֛ר יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ בּֽוֹ – “If a matter eludes you in judgment, between blood and blood, between judgment and judgment, or between lesion and lesion, words of dispute in your cities, then you shall rise and go up to the place HaShem, your Master, chooses” (Devarim 17:8, Shoftim). This possuk refers to consulting with the Sanhedrin in Yerushalayim or, in present times, consulting with recognized authorities in halakha.
12:30 – טָֽבְע֤וּ (ט זעירא) בָאָ֨רֶץ֙ שְׁעָרֶ֔יהָ – “Her gates are sunk into the ground…” (Eicha 2:9). The gates of the Beis HaMikdash sank into the ground so the enemies of Klal Yisrael were not able to capture them. These gates refer to the Shaarei Chokhma and halakha.
15:00 – אֹהֵ֣ב יְ֖הֹוָה שַֽׁעֲרֵ֣י צִיּ֑וֹן מִ֜כֹּ֗ל מִשְׁכְּנ֥וֹת יַֽעֲקֹֽב – “HaShem loves the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Yaakov” (Tehillim 87:2).
17:50 – The word “halakha” not only refers to the Torah’s technical laws, “halakha” also refers to more general guiding principles for one’s behavior.
19:00 – Shaarei Tzion. Tikkun Chatzos.
25:00 – Tikkun Leah. שְׂא֚וּ שְׁעָרִ֨ים | רָֽאשֵׁיכֶ֗ם – “Lift up your heads, O gates…” (Tehillim 24:7) expresses consolation for mourning.
27:00 – Q&R – the tradition in Breslov is that a woman is not obligated in saying Tikkun Chatzos.
30:00 – PARAGRAPH 14. The gates of the Beis HaMikdash would not open for Shlomo HaMelech until he proclaimed the merit of his father, Dovid HaMelech, through the words חסדי דוד. וְאֶכְרְתָ֚ה לָכֶם֙ בְּרִ֣ית עוֹלָ֔ם חַסְדֵ֥י דָוִ֖ד הַנֶּאֱמָנִֽים – Chasdei Dovid refers to the halakhos of the Beis HaMikdash (Sanhedrin 99b).
39:00 – וְאֶכְרְתָ֚ה לָכֶם֙ בְּרִ֣ית עוֹלָ֔ם חַסְדֵ֥י דָוִ֖ד הַנֶּאֱמָנִֽים – “…and I will make for you an everlasting covenant, the dependable mercies of David” (Yeshaya 55:3).
40:00 – BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE – Remembering Rabbi Yechiel Michel Dorfman zal. From his youth, “Reb Michel zal” was devoted to saying Tikkun Chatzos every night, seven days a week. He also used to sing Ish Chossid Hayo with tremendous devotion throughout the process of building the klois in Uman, not only as done traditionally on Motzei Shabbos, but also during the week in his hisbodedus.
