Trumos uMaasros 3 – Achila beKedusha – Torah Balances the Heart with the Lungs – Cooling the Negative Passions – Maaser Is a Tenth – Kohen – Levi – Song Comes from the Left Side – Water Purifies – 50 Gates – Sefiras HaOmer – Speaker: Rabbi Nasan Maimon.
Hilkhos Trumos uMaasros 3 is based on Likutey Moharan 78.
00:00 – PARAGRAPH 5b.
04:00 – Washing the hands before eating bread. The lungs and hands are connected, spiritually. שְׂאֽוּ־יְדֵכֶ֥ם קֹ֑דֶשׁ וּ֜בָֽרְכוּ אֶת־יְהֹוָֽה – “Lift your hands in the holy place and bless HaShem” (Tehillim 134:2).
07:00 – PARAGRAPH 6. Giving Trumah to the kohen and Maaser to the Levi. Kohen draws chesed and the ruach that cools the heart, Levi draws gevurah that brings the ability to limit.
09:00 – Gevurah is an aspect of Torah sheBaal Peh – the Oral Torah. Words put boundaries on concepts. Tzimtzim – Dibur – Torah sheBaal Peh. Maaser is a tenth – a specified amount (Din), whereas Trumah is an unspecified amount (Chesed).
12:30 – Song comes from the left side. NOTE from Rabbi Rosenfeld zal: The word Yisrael is made up of two words: Keyl (Chessed) and Shir (Levi/Din).
*15:00 – The dynamics of song. Song is an aspect of tzimzum – measured constriction of the lungs and vocal chords.
*16:30 – Q&R – When washing the hands for bread, we only raise them to the level of the face, not above the head.
18:30 – Purification from all types of tumeh – impurity – is done through water.
19:00 – Just as water is necessary to get to a higher level of holiness, water is also necessary to return to a lower level from a higher level, eg. the Kohen Gadol on Yom Kippur.
24:00 – PARAGRAPH 7. The connection between trumeh and the lungs.
26:30 – Reference to Likutey Moharan 31.
27:00 – The number 100 refers to Malkhus and speech, as in Meah Brachos – saying one hundred blessings every day.
***30:00 – Sefiras HaOmer. The word טמא – is begematria 50. Through Torah study we leave the 50 gates of tumeh and enter the 50 gates of holiness. The Torah was given after the completion of 50 days.
33:00 – Q&R about Trumos uMaasros today.
34:00 – Shaar HaChamishim – The Fiftieth Gate of holiness – Shavuos.
37:00 – NOTE: Neshama is “Moshe Noon”. Moshe Rabbeinu was buried on Har Nevo – “the fiftieth arrived”.
38:00 – There are 50 levels of impurity.
*44:50 – Q&R about finding the “middle path” in serving HaShem. The importance of reading biographies of and stories about tzaddikim.
