00 – PARAGRAPH 26. Parshas Beshalach. וַיִּקַּח שֵׁשׁ־מֵאוֹת רֶכֶב בָּחוּר וְכֹל רֶכֶב מִצְרָיִם וְשָׁלִשִׁם עַל־כֻּלּוֹ – “He took six hundred select chariots and all the chariots of Egypt, with officers over them all” (Shemos 14:7, Beshalach). וַיִּירְאוּ מְאֹד וַיִּצְעֲקוּ בְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶל־יְהוָה – “…They were very frightened, and the children of Israel cried out to HaShem” (Shemos 14:10, Beshalach).
43 – Horses represent an aspect of impure Medameh – misuse of the power of imagination.
04 – A person doesn’t commit a sin unless a spirit of foolishness overcomes him (Sotah). The 3 parts of the brain prevent foreign thoughts. If any part of the brain is damaged, foreign thoughts enter the mind.
30 – The Tzaddik Emes knows how to force the Sitra Achra to return the good it has swallowed from Am Yisrael. His success in this process brings him to Ruach HoKodesh.
30 – The main source of a confused Medameh – imagination – are the sins of passion committed in one’s youth.
00 – Each person needs to be prepared to go through many difficulties in order to repair the sins of one’s youth, especially those committed before a person connected with the Tzaddik Emes. If a person has true pity on himself, he will be very determined to attach himself to the Tzaddik and to always seek the true application of his teachings.
45 – *The main goal in this world is for every person – in every situation – to make the Medameh subservient to the Sekhel.
20 – When Pharaoh’s army attacked, even though Am Yisrael was frightened, they held onto the emunah they had received from their forefathers and cried out to HaShem.
50 – *A person needs to cry out to HaShem until he has the feeling that HaShem has heard Him.
50 – אָשִׁירָה לַיהוָה כִּי־גָאֹה גָּאָה סוּס וְרֹכְבוֹ רָמָה בַיָּם – “…I will sing to HaShem, for He is very exalted; the horse and its rider He cast into the sea” (Shemos 15:1, Beshalach.) Horse and rider: the horse is mentioned first because subduing the horse – Beirur HaMedameh – is the key to defeating the Sitra Achra.
00 – וַיִּירְאוּ הָעָם אֶת־יְהוָה וַיַּאֲמִינוּ בַּיהוָה וּבְמֹשֶׁה עַבְדּוֹ – “…and the people feared HaShem, and they believed in HaShem and in Moshe, His servant” (Shemos 14:31, Beshalach).
53 – PARAGRAPH 27. Parshas Beshalach. Moral impurity and excessive desire for money interfere with emunah. The way to begin correcting these desires is to search incessantly for the Tzaddik Emes. When he has found the Tzaddik, he needs to continually refine his application of the Tzaddik’s teachings.
30 – “The horse and its rider…”
41 – *The horse represents the epitome of the impurity of Egypt, as inהוֹי הַיֹּרְדִים מִצְרַיִם לְעֶזְרָה עַל־סוּסִים יִשָּׁעֵנוּ וַיִּבְטְחוּ עַל־רֶכֶב כִּי רָב וְעַל פָּרָשִׁים – “Woe to those who go down to Egypt for aid, and who rely on horses and trust in chariots which are many, and on riders who are very strong, and they did not rely on the Holy One of Israel and HaShem they did not seek” (Yeshaya 31:1).
24 – Even though a person needs a physical source of income, putting excessive effort into making money can cause a person to forget about HaShem’s part in parnassah.
05 – Defeat of illusion is achieved through the Tzaddik Emes.
00 – NOTE: This coming Shabbos we begin the Torah again with Parshas Bereishis.
02 – The Song of 72 Strings – the world will be built with חסד – Loving Kindness – as in עוֹלָם חֶסֶד יִבָּנֶה – “…’the world will always be built on kindness’…” (Tehillim 89:3).
19 – PARAGRAPH 28. Parshas Shoftim. רַק לֹא־יַרְבֶּה־לּוֹ סוּסִים וְלֹא־יָשִׁיב אֶת־הָעָם מִצְרַיְמָה לְמַעַן הַרְבּוֹת סוּס “Only, he may not acquire many horses for himself, so that he will not bring the people back to Egypt in order to acquire many horses…” and וְלֹא יַרְבֶּה־לּוֹ נָשִׁים – “And he shall not take many wives for himself…” (Devarim 17:16-17, Shoftim). The prohibition against acquiring “too many horses” refers to giving in to physical desires.
47 – Closing blessings.
