Hilula – 18th Tishrei 5760 – Yahrzeit of Rebbe Nachman of Breslov – Speaker: Rabbi Yechiel Michel Dorfman zal – Locating the Tziyun in Uman. (Recorded 1999-09-28. Hebrew.)
43 – In the year 5715 (1955) I arrived in Uman for Rosh Hashanah, after having been [in a prison camp] in Siberia. On the second day of Rosh Hashanah, I asked Reb Shneur Zalman, who lived in Lemberg, “How do you know this is the exact location of the Rebbe’s Tziyun (grave site)?” Reb Shneur Zalman answered:
00 – After the war, the land near the Rebbe’s grave site was slated for building private homes. [The original small house over the Rebbe’s Tziyun was destroyed. All that remained somewhere were the two metal pipes, embedded deep in the earth, that served as markers of the location when the original small house stood.]
07 – Reb Shneur Zalman searched for the markers but couldn’t find them. That evening he wept bitterly, crying out “Rebbe, where are you?”
*04:15 – During the night he saw the Rebbe in a dream, dressed in beautiful clothing. The Rebbe assured him, “I’m still with you!” And in the morning, Reb Shneur Zalman found the two markers. After the Tziyun was relocated, the land adjacent to the Rebbe was purchased by a Ger Tzedek, and to protect the Tziyun a house was built with placement of the Tziyun between 2 windows. This house stands there to this day.
14 – In praise of the Rebbe’s many gifts of true compassion, for example Sipurey Masiyos and hisbodedus.
59 – “If the Rebbe only came to the world to bring the gift of Tikkun HaKlali, it would have been enough!”
04 – At the end of his life, the Rebbe said, “If I had known the power of tefilah I wouldn’t have afflicted myself…” [through self-imposed fasting].
02 – Every soul is a part of HaShem.
41 – A child comes to its father and asks forgiveness – the father won’t forgive?
14 – Reference to Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai zal.
54 – Reference to Likutey Moharan 98 – The Tzaddik has the eyes of Hashem.
15 – Reference to 2Likutey Moharan 8 – the last Torah given by Rebbe Nachman.
55 – Reference to Rav Avrohom Sternhartz zal – direct descendant of Rav Nosson of Nemirov zal. [Rav Avrohom was Rabbi Dorfman’s rebbe muvchak and grandfather of his wife].
42 – Closing blessings.
