Maos Chitim – Charity for Pesach Kimcha dePischa – Speaker: Rabbi Nasan Maimon.
00:00 – וְלֹ֧א יֵֽרָאֶ֛ה אֶת־פְּנֵ֥י יְהֹוָ֖ה רֵיקָֽם – “…and they shall not appear before Me empty-handed” (Devarim 16:16, Ki Sisa).
00:33 – The first mitzvah presented in Torah Law with regard to observing the holiday of Pesach is giving charity to those in need (Shulchan Aruch 429).
02:15 – The Egyptians worshiped sheep as a symbol of wealth.
03:06 – Giving charity is an expression of faith in HaShem, rather than faith in money. All wealth belongs to HaShem and is distributed by Him. לִ֥י הַכֶּ֖סֶף וְלִ֣י הַזָּהָ֑ב נְאֻ֖ם יְהֹוָ֥ה צְבָאֽוֹת – “Silver is Mine, and gold is Mine, says the Lord of Hosts” (Haggai 2:8).
