LH7-18-Sheluchin/ הלכות שלוחין

2025-10-05 – LH7 – CM1 – Sheluchin 5 – Para. 21-23 – Parshas Bereishis

Sheluchin 5 – Parshas Bereishis – Clothing – Elisha HaNavi – Searching for the Tzaddik’s Successor – Business Transactions – Elevating the Sparks of Emunah in the Physical World – Beirur HaMedameh – Garments of HaShem – Kinyan Sudar – Speaker: Rabbi Nasan Maimon.
Hilkhos Sheluchin 5 is based on 2Likutey Moharan 8.
00:00 – PARAGRAPH 21. Review of Elisha HaNavi’s mistake with his student, Gechazi, and with cursing the disrespect of the 42 youths. וֶאֱלִישָׁע חָלָה אֶת־חָלְיוֹ אֲשֶׁר יָמוּת בּוֹ – “And Elisha became ill with the illness he was to die of…” (2Melachim 13:14).
06:35 – PARAGRAPH 22. וַיַּכֶּה אֶת־הַמַּיִם וַיֵּחָצוּ הֵנָּה וָהֵנָּה וַיַּעֲבֹר אֱלִישָׁע – “…He too struck the water and it divided on this side and on that side, and Elisha crossed over” (2Melachim 2:14). Elisha HaNavi merited splitting the waters of the Yarden through mentioning the name of his teacher, Eliyahu NaNavi.
11:00 – ***Even before a tzaddik is niftar, HaShem prepares his replacement. A person must pray very much and study the tzaddik’s teachings diligently to merit discovering the identity, ruach hakodesh, and holiness of the tzaddik’s successor. “No generation is an orphan.”
13:00 – וַיִּזְכֹּר יְמֵי־עוֹלָם מֹשֶׁה עַמּוֹ אַיֵּה׀ הַמַּעֲלֵם מִיָּם אֵת רֹעֵי צֹאנוֹ אַיֵּה הַשָּׂם בְּקִרְבּוֹ אֶת־רוּחַ קָדְשׁוֹ – “And His people remembered the days of old, [the days of] Moses; where is he who drew them up from the sea, [like] a shepherd His flock; where is he who placed within them His Holy Spirit?” (Yeshaya 63:11). Reference to Likutey Moharan 66.
14:40 – PARAGRAPH 23. Kinyan Sudar. All business transactions involve the refinement of the holy sparks of emunah found in physical objects, including all aspects of wealth.
18:20 – One way that Beirur HaMedameh is achieved is through conducting business with honesty. All 5 senses are involved in business transactions.
20:00 – Parshas Bereishis. The Sekhel – the highest level of the Jewish soul that can be present in this world – is above the physical senses, and the Koach Mamedameh is the messenger between the physical world and the Sekhel. Clothing is rooted in imagery, which are referred to garments. All praises and Names of HaShem only give us imagery of Who He is, based on what the prophets perceived, as in יְהוָה מָלָךְ גֵּאוּת לָבֵשׁ לָבֵשׁ יְהוָה עֹז הִתְאַזָּר – “HaShem has reigned; He has attired Himself with majesty; indeed HaShem has attired Himself, He has girded Himself with might” (Tehillim 93:1).
25:00 – NOTE – Account of an interaction in which Rebbe Nachman speaks about the appearance of the Malakh Mem Tess.
26:30 – BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE about Rabbi Michel Dorfman zal’s dream about Rebbe Nachman. The Breslov elders of his generation verified that the way Reb Michel zal saw the Rebbe was, in fact, the way Rebbe Nachman was known to appear in dreams.
29:20 – Parshas Bereishis. Before the sin of Adam and Chava, there was no clothing because they were able to perceive HaShem without any garments or filters.
33:00 – Analogy to understand the role of the Medameh in perceiving the reality of this world: even if an advertisement for a circus includes a live-action video, it’s still not the circus itself.
35:30 – Clothing is an aspect of the garments of HaShem. Changing a business deal in midstream is an example of Bilbul HaMedameh – confusion which leads to dishonesty. A Jew must keep his word, even if a kinyan wasn’t made. Kinyan Sudar draws on the Garments of HaShem – His praises and Names – that are a necessary for a person to achieve Beirur HaMedameh.
39:00 – Q&R about business transactions and halakha: there are many levels of integrity. Analogy of “passing” a test and “doing well” on a test.
41:00 – Q&R about the connection between holiness, joy, and emunah and “fallen sparks”. All of creation contains emunah.
43:00 – Q&R – Finding Ruach HaKodesh in the present generation is achieved through searching for the Tzaddik’s successor.
45:20 – This is the last class before Sukkos. The importance of buying new clothing for Yom Tov. Closing blessings.
